Rich yet balanced with pineapple, sliced green apple and hints of citrus fruit with delicate cream undertones. Full, balanced and beautiful. Aniseed character as well, and fresh.
(93-96pts, JS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Apr. 2010
Score: 93-96
Drink: N/A
Tasting Note: Showing
a pale yellow color with a very aromatic, fruity and spicy nose, the
2009 Smith Haut Lafitte offers a nose of white pepper and grapefruit
which also displays a smoke character. Fat and soft on entry, as often,
this wine is pleasant for its pulpy and sweet flesh, which can make us
believe the wine has a low tension when actually the wine performs
extremely fat. It amplifies on finish and becomes tasty and melting over
a flavor of anis, pear and white fruits. It is very long and sappy, and
above all, impossible not to swallow.
(90pts, Jean-Marc Quarin)
Tasted: Mar. 2010
Score: 90
