Tasting note: Deep red-ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of violet, licorice, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, tight and lively, with a strong underlying rocky quality providing energy. The firmly tannic finish leaves the palate vibrating. I'm not sure if I would have identified this superb wine blind as a 2009. (91-93pts. Stephen Tanzer)

Tasting note: In 2009 the nose is as much Vosne as Nuits as the fresh, cool and very spicy wild red berry fruit aromas display hints of earth and underbrush that continue onto the concentrated, serious and fleshy big-bodied flavors that possess excellent dry extract levels and ample minerality on the balanced and strikingly long finish. This is actually relatively refined and a wine that should improve for at least a decade. In sum, this is a knockout. (93pts AM, Burghound)
