Tasting note: The 2009 Gironville is the best wine I have ever tasted from this estate in the southern Medoc. A blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Petit Verdot that achieved 14% natural alcohol, this sleeper of the vintage exhibits a dark purple color in addition to beautiful notes of graphite, blueberries, flowers, and cassis, and a long, layered mouthfeel. A sensational value, the 2009 should drink well for a decade. (89-91*pts. RP, Wine Advocate)
Tasted: April 2010
Score: 89-91*
Drink: 2010-2040
Tasting note: Currant and blackberry aromas, with vanilla. Medium-bodied, with good fruit and soft tannins.(86-89pts. JS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: March 2010
Score: 86-89
Drink: N/A
Tasting note: My best rating ever given to this wine during futures campaigns.
Showing a lovely, dark red and intense color, this wine offers a moderately aromatic nose, both fruity and smoky. The wine is creamy and supple on the palate, with taste. I have never seen it so textured, ripe and pleasant, while being well-structured. It is likely that this new texture sensation is induced by the vines, which are now getting older. 2009 is the greatest vintage for this estate..(87pts. JMQ, Jean-Marc Quarin)
