Vintage: 2009
Format: 750ml
Wine Name: Chambolle-Musigny
Vineyard: Les Charmes
Designation: 1er Cru
Appellation: Chambolle-Musigny
Producer: La Pousse d’Or
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Sub-Region: Cote de Nuits
Tasting note: Mild reduction compromises the
expressiveness of the nose so be sure to decant this first. Otherwise,
there is clear ripeness and richness to the voluminous and extract-dense
flavors that coat the mouth and stain the palate on the gorgeously
persistent finish. This is beautifully well-balanced and very Charmes
as there is both a generosity and refinement to the seductive flavors
and very firm finish.

Tasting note: The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Charmes is another huge, super-ripe wine.
Black fruit, pepper, spices, menthol and goudron are among the nuances
that take shape in the glass. Although quite dense and powerful at
first, the wine finds a more delicate voice with time in the glass.
Sweet rose petals and minerals linger on the finish. (92pts. AG, Wine Advocate)

Drink: 2019-34
Tasting note: Deep ruby-red. Wild but subdued aromas of
kirsch, violet and underbrush. Fat, broad, rich and sweet but a bit
monolithic now in spite of maintaining a rather light touch. Finishes
with dusty tannins and a lingering note of licorice. Still a bit brutal
today and in need of more personality. (89-91pts. Stephen Tanzer)
