Tasting note: Here there is a more obvious floral and spice influence to the earthier and more serious, even somber dark berry fruit aromas that introduce cool, intense and almost pungently mineral-infused medium weight flavors blessed with plenty of tannin-buffering dry extract, all wrapped in a firm and impressively long finish. This should reward up to a decade of cellar time, perhaps a bit more. (SWEET SPOT OUTSTANDING) (91-93pts AM, Burghound)

Tasted: May 6, 2011

Drink: 2019+

Tasting note: Good full red. More perfumed on the nose than the bottled Beaunes, offering black cherry, licorice, spices and minerals. A step up in flavor intensity and energy; in fact, a bit youthfully imploded today. Much more tension here, thanks to the 33% whole cluster component. This has more material to support its tannins. (88-90pts ST, International Wine Cellar)

Tasting note: The 2009 Beaune Les Greves is a weighty, powerful wine graced with a solid core of fruit. Hints of smoke, tar and ash add complexity to the dark fruit. This has more than enough energy and sheer heft to develop nicely for at least a few years in bottle. Crushed rocks frame the intense finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (90+pts AG, Wine Advocate)
