Vintage: 2008
Format: 750ml
Wine Name: Puligny Montrachet
Vineyard: Les Referts
Designation: 1er Cru
Appellation: Puligny Montrachet
Producer: Louis Carillon
Varietal: Chardonnay
Type: White
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Sub-Region: Cote de Beaune
Tasting note: A highly expressive and ultra-pure nose features notes of baking spices, acacia blossom and fresh citrus that introduces rich and generous medium weight plus flavors that retain a lovely touch of refinement on the detailed, explosive, stony and bone dry finish. Carillon is not the reference standard for this appellation by accident as this beautifully precise effort is flat out superb. (94pts. Burghound)
Tasted: Jul. 2011
Score: 94
Drink: Starting 2016
Tasting note: Subdued aromas of minerals, spices and white truffle. Quite taut and unforthcoming today in spite of its ripe acidity, attractive sweetness of soft citrus fruit and depth of flavor. Perhaps just a tad more exotic than the Perrieres but with solid underlying minerality. Will this stay as fresh as the Perrieres? (91+?pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: Sep./Oct. 2010
Score: 91+?
