Tasting note: Exhibits a rich mix of loamy earth, dried berry, spice, cedar, cherry
rhubarb and red and black licorice flavors. Full-bodied, intense and
concentrated, with a touch more finesse than the Finn bottling. Drink
now through 2019. 738 cases made. (90 pts. JL, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Oct 15, 2011
Score: 90
Drink: Through 2019
Tasting note: The medium ruby-hued 2008 Pinot Noir Ryan is fashioned from Dijon clones
and the California clone called “The Martini Selection.” A crisp,
elegant, fresh Pinot, it offers notes of rhubarb, candied cherries,
pomegranate, sassafras and hints of herbs and spice, but not the size of
the Aidan. Consume it over the next 7-8 years. (90 pts. Robert Parker)
Tasted: Feb. 2011
Score: 90
Drink: 2011 - 2019
Tasting note: Vivid red. Captivating nose combines
strawberry preserves, licorice pastille, incense and an exotic Moroccan
spice character. Then sweet, silky and voluptuous on the palate, with
densely packed red berry, spicecake and floral flavors. Finishes long and supple, with echoing spiciness and excellent energy. (94 pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: May/June 2011
Score: 94
