Tasting note: Verges on pungent and oily in texture, with corn, nut oil, herb, citrus
and mineral aromas and flavors. Tensile in character, with fine
intensity and a long, stone-driven aftertaste. Shows real terroir. (93pts. BS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Jun. 15, 2010
Score: 93
Drink: 2012-25
Tasting note: An extremely subtle hint of wood spice
frames extremely fresh and ripe orchard fruit aromas and sappy, rich,
sweet and punchy medium full flavors blessed with superb depth of
material and excellent complexity on the very long backend. This is
relatively tight with a lovely sense of coherence to the impeccably
balanced finish, which should permit it to improve for the better part
of a decade. (92pts Burghound)
Tasted: Jun. 2009
Score: 92
Drink: Starting 2012
Tasting note: Bright green-tinged yellow. Lovely
perfumed nose offers lemon, lime, pear, spices and crushed rock. Then
surprisingly supple in the mouth, with sappy but ripe acids giving an
impression of power to the citrus, nutmeg and salty mineral flavors.
Very nicely concentrated high-altitude wine with noteworthy persistence. (90+?pts Stephen Tanzer)
