Tasting note: Good dark red. Expressive aromas of black cherry and flowers. Suave on entry, then rather silky in the middle, with aromatic black cherry and raspberry fruit flavors conveying an impression of energy. Finishes with building but essentially sweet tannins and plenty of flavor. (90+?pts. Stephen Tanzer)

Tasted: Mar/Apr. 2009

Tasting note: Here there is better integration of the wood with a soaring nose of red and black berry fruit, stone and a crushed herb component that is not vegetal in character that leads to finer and more detailed middle weight flavors that culminate in a dusty, sweet, minerally and firm finish that is beautifully balanced and deep. There is a chewy quality to the backend yet the class of the tannins is evident. (91pts. Burghound)

Tasting note:Cassis, plum, and blackberry wreathed in wood smoke on the nose of Forey's 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Perrieres follow onto a richly-textured and sweetly ripe palate dusted with cocoa powder and brown spices. Right now, this is all about opulence of fruit (to a degree few 2006s can boast), with any overt mineral character sublimated. Five of six barriques here were new, but neither is oak in evidence per se. The tannin is fine-grained, and sufficient fresh fruit edge is maintained for the wine's long finish to stimulate. I would plan to enjoy this over the next 4-5 years, though perhaps as its sweet, plush folds of fruit part there will be further complexity and grounds to continue holding it. (91pts.
