Designation: Cuvee Ultra
Appellation: Nuits St. Georges
Producer: Perrot-Minot
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Sub-Region: Cote de Nuits
Tasting note: From vines planted in 1902, Perrot-Minot's four barrels' worth of 2006
Nuits-St.-Georges La Richemone Vieilles Vignes Cuvée Ultra offers
palate-staining intensity of "ultra-"ripe black fruits, smoked meats,
and soy. Surprisingly, this is brighter and than the two bottlings from
the Combe d'Orveaux, although like the "ultra" rendition of that site,
it's almost inscrutably dense and emphasizes the bitter bite of its
constituent berries. The finish here gives you a lot to chew on both
tactilely and mentally, and I don't doubt that the wine will be worth
following for more than a decade. (92pts DS, Wine Advocate)
Tasted: Dec. 2009
Score: 92
Drink: 2009-19
Tasting note: Wild, smoky aromas are followed by cassis, violet, bilberry and vanilla
flavors. Ripe and silky, yet with a dense structure. There's terrific
harmony and expression already, yet the long, sweet finish shows its
ultimate potential. Give this time to absorb the oak. (94pts BS, Wine Spectator)

Drink: 2012-25
Tasting note: A ripe, pretty and expressive liqueur of raspberry and red pinot fruit nose
complements the delicious, powerful and intense full-bodied flavors that
possess excellent mid-palate concentration and a serious and sleekly
muscled finish that displays real drive and finishing punch. This is a big
but not inelegant wine with excellent development potential though because
of the mid-palate sappiness, it actually is approachable now though how
long it will stay this way before the tannins become more prominent is not
clear. (91pts Burghound)

Drink: 2014+
Tasting note: Deep ruby. Crushed black fruits, pungent
minerality and a note of smoky stone on the nose. The palate offers huge
volume without undue weight, but less obvious fat than the "regular"
Richemone. Seamless, dense and fine-grained but also racy and juicy.
Really saturates the palate with fruits and minerals and hangs around
for a while. (91-94pts Stephen Tanzer)
