Tasting note: This is even more inexpressive and almost painfully primary as there are still wisps of secondary fermentation aromas that at present make the ripe and mildly exotic nose more difficult to read though the rich, full and focused flavors are very fresh and vibrant. Montrachet is often said in its youth to take on either the characteristics of a fine Chevalier or a gifted Bâtard before finally arriving at its own destination. In 2006, this Monty is definitely in the Chevalier camp with its emphasis on elegance, refinement and purity of both flavor and expression, all wrapped in an extract laden and superbly intense finale. This too should mature into something most impressive because as good as the Chevalier is, there is another gear here.(93-95pts. Allen Meadows AKA The Burghound)
