Tasting note: Pure, focused and full of cherry, raspberry and currant aromas and
flavors matched to a silky texture. This is forward in style, with more
pleasure on the attack than the finish. Tasty all the same. (91pts BS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Jun. 15, 2009
Score: 91
Drink: Through 2018
Tasting note: Good medium red. Smoky red fruits, mocha,
smoke and some spicy high tones on the nose. Sweet and silky in texture
but with terrific sappiness to its red fruit and mineral flavors.
Boasts excellent stuffing and balance. A village wine with atypical
finesse, finishing with fine, broad tannins and lingering sweetness. (91pts Stephen Tanzer)

Tasting note: The 2006 Gevrey Vieilles Vignes bottling (which hails from vineyards on the northern end of Gevrey-Chambertin on the Brochon border) was showing beautifully at the time of my visit, and was the pick of the litter amongst these four very strong village wines in 2006. The nose is deep and lovely, with a sappiness that was most engaging, as it jumps from the glass in a blend of red plums, cherries, orange zest, lovely minerality and a touch of violet in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and sappy at the core, with lovely depth, excellent focus, and a very long, modestly tannic and quite tangy finish. There is a freshness and bounce here that is really impressive. (90pts. John Gilman, View from the Cellar)
Tasted: Nov/Dec 2007
Score: 90
Drink: 2012-2035
Tasting note: Here the nose is even earthier with a distinctly animale character
to the equally somber dark berry fruit aromas nuanced with hints of
underbrush, violet and forest floor that can also be found on the slightly
riper flavors that are more elegant and a bit finer on the detailed and
linear finish that stops just short of being austere. A quality villages. (87-89pts Burghound)
