Designation:
Appellation: Chambolle-Musigny

Varietal: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Sub-Region: Cote de Nuits
Tasting note: Good full deep red. Briary dark
raspberry, blueberry, pipe tobacco and roasted herbs on the very ripe
nose. Then sweet and highly concentrated in the mouth, with stony
minerality giving the wild berry and fruit pit flavors almost surprising
definition and lift. This has plenty of density to support its tannins.
Finishes with a sappy impression of extract. (93pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: Mar./Apr. 2009
Score: 93
Drink: N/A
Tasting note: Gorgeous aromas of pure cherry and oak spice mark this dense, elegant
red. Tight and chewy, with substantial tannins, though the fruit is
sweet and evokes cherry and red currant. Fine length. (90pts. BS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Oct. 31, 2008
Score: 90
Drink: 2010-18
Tasting note: Compared to the distinctly animale character of the Chambertin, here
the nose is spicier and higher-toned but equally broad with a really lovely
range of layered aromas that introduce equally rich if slightly more
refined medium full-bodied flavors that display excellent detail on the
driving, powerful and also gorgeously long finish that really stains the
palate. While the personalities and styles are quite different, they are
qualitative equals. A choice. (92-94pts. Stephen Tanzer)
