From James Molesworth of Wine Spectator: "For fun, Philippe let me taste the 2005 Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde
Hommage à Étienne Guigal, only the second vintage of the wine ever made,
following the 1989. The wine is sourced from the La Pommière portion in
the Côte Brune lieu-dit (next to La Turque) and the La Viria portion of
the Côte Rozier lieu-dit (neighboring La Landonne). Just one barrel of
each of the two vineyard sources was blended together and the wine was
only bottled in magnum. It will not be commercialized. It’s dark, with
lots of cocoa, musk, coffee and licorice flavors, and a long, toasty,
fleshy finish. For those lucky enough to score a magnum of the wine via
charity auction perhaps, the wine offers quality in the upper range of
outstanding, flirting with classic."
