Tasting note: There is a greenish hue to the medium straw/light gold color of the 2004 Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille (1,500 cases produced). Revealing an almost tannic character (unusual for Chardonnay), along with good richness and fatness, it is a firm-structured, stony/mineral-dominated, closed effort. (94pts. Robert Parker)
Tasted: Dec. 2006
Score: 94
Drink: 2005-12
Tasting note: Wonderful expression and purity of Chardonnay fruit, accented by smoky oak. The core fig, apple, pear and earthy nuances take on a butterscotch note as the finish sails on, unveiling one layer of flavor after another. Remarkable. Drink now through 2008. 1,752 cases made. (95pts. Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Jun. 15, 2006
Score: 95
Drink: Now Through 2008
Tasting note: Bright, pale yellow-green color. Deeply pitched nose offers apricot and tropical fruits, complicated by flint, smoke and flowers. Big, rich and mouthfilling; thick but not heavy. Boasts superb sweetness of fruit and a seamless, round texture. Finishes with considerable power, outstanding length and a subtle smoky minerality. (93pts. Steven Tanzer)
