Tasting note: A terrific, value-priced second wine, the 2003 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux (150,000 bottles produced) may be the finest example of this cuvee I have yet tasted. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by creamy aromas of cassis, vanilla, flowers, and licorice. Round, generous, savory, expansive, and amazingly long as well as concentrated, I even joked with Paul Pontallier that this could get him fired as perhaps the selection was too severe! This 2003 should drink well for 15+ years. (92pts. Robert Parker)
Tasted: Apr. 2006
Score: 92
Drink: 2006-21
Tasting note: Aromas of blackberry and lightly toasted oak follow through to a full-bodied palate, with chewy tannins and a rich, fruity aftertaste of plum, berry and vanilla. All there. Solid wine. Second wine of Margaux. (92pts. JS, Wine Spectator)

Drink: After 2011
Tasting note: Rated 90 in 2005-08 from bottle at the estate. Bottled. This wine obtained my "best score obtained by this growth as a future" last year. Since then, it maintained its excellent level. Lovely colour. Beautiful nose with a smell of cherry and fresh fruit. It recalls vintage 1989 by some aspects. The wine seems to dance over the palate, viscous and tightly woven at the same time. It is a meticulous concentration of great fruit. Absolutely impossible not to swallow this! It seems totally unaffected by the bottling which took place on the 15th of July. Pleasure score: 16. (90pts. Jean Marc Quarin)
