Tasting note: Saturated deep red with black highlights. Flamboyant aromas of ripe plum, chestnut and quinine show a smoky, mocha quality. Rich and weighty, with almost jammy flavors of spicy plum, coffee and dark chocolate; this demonstrates impressive power for a wine from a light vintage. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and a reasonably long finish. (88pts. ID, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar)

Tasting note: Aromas and flavors of plum and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, with a slightly lean and green finish. A bit too much wood. (81pts. JS, Wine Spectator)
