Vintage: 2006
Format: 750ml
Wine Name: DuMOL Pinot Noir
Vineyard:
Designation: aidan
Appellation: Russian River Valley
Producer: DuMOL
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Country: USA
Region: California
Sub-Region: Sonoma County
Tasting note: Deep, bright red. Spicy aromas of
redcurrant and cherry are underscored by smoky minerals. Broad but
focused, offering sweet red fruit flavors, supple texture and fully
absorbed tannins. A floral note arrives with air and carries through the
very long, gently sweet finish. These vines are just seven or eight
years old, according to winemaker Smith. (92pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: May 2009
Score: 92
Drink: N/A
Tasting note: The 2006 Pinot Noir Aidan shows sweet tannin, with notes of crushed
rock, black cherry, raspberry, smoked meats, and forest floor. It has a
nice sweetness, medium to full body, and soft, silky tannins. It is much
more forward than the 2005 and should drink well for 5-6 years.
Proprietor
Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith, are doing sensational work
in the cool-climate areas of the Russian River. This has become one of
my favorite tastings of the year, and not only are their Chardonnays and
Pinot world-class, but they have extended their brilliance to both
Viognier and Syrah. This is a winery that is clearly on top of its game
and pushing all the right buttons in terms of quality. (90-92pts. Robert Parker)
