Tasting note: Deep red. Smoky black cherry and mocha aromas are sweet and soft but could use more lift. The flavors of dark cherry and smoky coffee bean are somewhat muddled at present and are currently dominated by an inky, peppery note. This fleshy, rather fat wine finishes with chewy tannins and a sappy herbal quality but currently lacks a bit of focus. (88pts. ID, Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar)
Tasted: Jun. 2007
Score: 88
Drink: N/A
Tasting note: Aromas of blackberry, dried mushroom and vanilla. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, long finish. This really grows on the palate, with lots of layered fruit and tannins. One of the best Brunellos from this producer in a long time. (93pts. JS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Apr. 30, 2007
Score: 93
