Tasting note: The 2000 Barolo Pajana, dark in color and with an internationally-styled nose of cloves and incense to accompany the red currants and rose petals, is powerful and enveloping in flavor, intense and concentrated, and very firm on the finish. The slight dryness of the vintage is also present, but could well lessen with some bottle time. Drink: 2006-2018. (92pts. DT, Wine Advocate)
Tasted: Aug. 2005
Score: 92
Drink: 2006-18
Tasting note: Deep red. Nutty oak and marzipan on the nose. Lush, sweet and forward, in the style of the vintage. Shows distinct signs of surmaturite, with rather low acidity. Notes of tobacco, chocolate and underbrush. Finishes with substantial but slightly drying tannins. (89pts. Steven Tanzer)
Tasted: Nov/Dec 2004

Tasting note: Loads of new wood showing on the nose right now, but there is beautiful ripe fruit underneath. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Slightly too much wood right now, but should come around nicely. Tasted twice, once after it had been open for 24 hours, which was much better. Needs loads of bottle age. Best after 2012. 600 cases made. (93pts. JS, Wine Spectator)
