Tasting note: Bigger and richer than the Garenne and another notch up in intensity. The nose is dominated by citrus notes with lively, medium weight flavors of considerable distinction. While there is the same exceptional purity, the flavors here are more accessible though they are even more persistent. (90pts. Allen Meadows AKA “The Burghound)
Tasted: May 11, 2002
Score: 90
Drink: 2005-10
Tasting note: Reticent nose hints at pear. Juicy, delineated and tight; seems denser than the 2000, with a stronger acid spine and more nervosite Finishes firm, brisk and young. This will need some time in bottle. (89+?pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: Oct. 2001
Score: 89+?
Drink: N/A
Tasting note: Fresh earth and white peaches can be discerned in the aromatics of the 1999 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts. This broad, medium-bodied, tangy, and well-balanced wine displays white fruit and spice flavors. It is masculine in its structure, yet lacks the density often associated with this vineyard. (89pts. PR, Wine Advocate)
Tasted: Feb. 2001
Score: 89
Drink: 2001-07
