Vintage: 1999
Format: 750ml
Wine Name: Bonnes Mares
Vineyard:
Designation: Grand Cru
Appellation: Bonnes Mares
Producer: Dominique Laurent
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Sub-Region: Cote de Nuits
Tasting note: Beautiful. Thick in texture, rich and ripe, this inky black Pinot is impressive. Delivers menthol, blackberries, cassis and mineral complexity, and a smooth finish that caresses the palate. (91pts. PM, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Dec. 31, 2001
Score: 91
Drink: Through 2010
Tasting note: Saturated ruby, the darkest of Laurent '99s along with the Chambertin. Superripe, perfumed aromas of roasted blackberry, violet, mocha and smoked meat; shows no trace of this grand cru's normal herbacity. Huge but stylish wine, with great power but not a trace of heaviness. Explosive fruit takes over the entire mouth and stays awhile. Not at all oaky today, despite the 200% new oak treatment. A wine with extraordinary potential. (93-97pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: Mar./Apr. 2001
Score: 93-97
Drink: N/A
