Vintage: 1999 Format: 750ml Wine Name: Bonnes Mares Vineyard: Designation: Grand Cru Appellation: Bonnes Mares Producer: Dominique Laurent Varietal: Pinot Noir Type: Red Country: France Region: Burgundy Sub-Region: Cote de Nuits Alcohol:
Tasting note: Beautiful. Thick in texture, rich and ripe, this inky black Pinot is impressive. Delivers menthol, blackberries, cassis and mineral complexity, and a smooth finish that caresses the palate. Drink now through 2010. (91pts. PM, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Dec. 31, 2001 Score: 91 Drink: Through 2001
Tasting note: Saturated ruby, the darkest of Laurent '99s along with the Chambertin. Superripe, perfumed aromas of roasted blackberry, violet, mocha and smoked meat; shows no trace of this grand cru's normal herbacity. Huge but stylish wine, with great power but not a trace of heaviness. Explosive fruit takes over the entire mouth and stays awhile. Not at all oaky today, despite the 200% new oak treatment. A wine with extraordinary potential. (93-97pts. Stephen Tanzer)
Tasted: Mar/Apr 2001 Score: 93-97 Drink: N/A
