Tasting note: Medium red. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, licorice, herbs, humus, bitter chocolate and strong spicy oak. The most intensely flavored and powerful of these '98s but also a bit dominated by its spine. Very firm acids and serious, building tannins suggest that this backward wine will need a good eight to ten years of cellaring. But it appears to have the sheer material to reward patience. (91+?
