Tasting note: Deep ruby. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, violet and pepper; this reminded me of Chateau Rauzan-Segla. Very dense, primary and intensely flavored, with penetrating flavors of darkest berries, bitter chocolate and licorice. Extremely backward, and currently dominated by its strong acids and firm tannic spine. Very subtle and very long on the aftertaste. A bit hard to taste today, but obviously a wine with outstanding potential. (92+pts. Steven Tanzer)

Tasting note: Dark and ripe, rich and elegant, with a core of cedary currant, earth and berry, finishing with supple, polished tannins and good length. Available only in 1L-bottles by mailing list. Best from 2002 through 2012. 48 cases made. (92pts. JL, Wine Spectator)
