PRICE ABOVE IS PER BOTTLE, ONLY AVAILABLE IN 12 BOTTLE OWC Vintage: 1995 Format: 750ml Wine Name: Chateau La Fleur de Gay Vineyard: Designation: Appellation: Pomerol Producer: Chateau La Fleur de Gay Varietal: Red Bordeaux Blend Type: Red Country: France Region: Bordeaux Sub-Region: Libournais Alcohol: 13.0%
Tasting note: The result of the tasting is surprising because the wine does not overtake Croix de Gay. Probably the bottle was not a good one. I reproached it especially for dry final tannins which the wine does not usually have. It would be more reasonable to taste another bottle. (84pts. Jean-Marc Quarin)
Tasted: Mar. 2007 Score: 84 Drink: N/A
Tasting note: Aromas of dark chocolate, mineral, blackberry and licorice. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a racy finish. Tight now. Give it some time still.--'95/'96 Bordeaux retrospective. Best after 2008. (90pts. JS, Wine Spectator)
Tasted: 2007 Score: 90 Drink: After 2008
Tasting note: The 1995 La Fleur de Gay has begun to shut down following bottling. The color is a healthy dense ruby/purple. The nose displays aromas of minerals, pain grille, a touch of prunes, and gobs of black cherries and cassis intertwined with vanillin from new oak casks. This medium-bodied wine exhibits fennel-like black currant flavors, high tannin, and impressive purity, depth, and length. However, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2018. (90pts. Robert Parker)
Tasted: Feb. 1998 Score: 90 Drink: 2003-18
