Vintage: 1993 Format: 750ml Wine Name: Barolo Vineyard: Rocche Designation: Appellation: Barolo Producer: Giovanni Corino Varietal: Nebbiolo Type: Red Country: Italy Region: Piedmont Sub-Region: Langhe Alcohol:
Tasting note: Well-made Barolo in the barrique, new-oak style. Lots of spice, mocha, toasted bread and violet notes overwhelm a bit the red- and blackberry flavors, but some plum and cassis notes manage to come through. Supple, well-integrated tannins. Drink now through 2005. (90pts., Wine Spectator)
Tasted: Oct.31st, 1997 Score: 90 Drink: Through 2005
Tasting note:One of the most forward, developed, and pleasing to drink Barolos from this vintage, Corino's offerings are succulent, round, and harmonious - in short - irresistible for current drinking. The 1993 Barolo Rocche Annunziata is denser, with a deeper garnet color, a ripe, cedar, coffee, black-cherry, and tar-scented nose, spicy, fat, low acid, medium to full-bodied flavors, sweet tannin, and a silky texture. Already delicious, it is capable of lasting for another 8-10 years. (90pts Robert Parker)
