Tasting note: The 1989 Hermitage Blanc is low in acidity, expansive, and weighty, and makes for a huge, chewy mouthful of white wine. The honeyed, somewhat unctuous personality of the wine is more dominant in the 1989 than in the 1988, but there remains the head-turning, beautiful, flowery aromas, sensational concentration, super ripeness, and low acidity. Chave believes the latter component is always a characteristic of the greatest Hermitage vintages. Last tasted 8/96. (92pts. Robert Parker)
