Tasting note: In keeping with the style of the vintage, the 1985 comes across as further along the aging curve in its color, flavors and structure. If offers an irresistible mix of sweet prune and plum fruit with notes of spices and licorice in a soft, ethereal style, with notable sweetness and a warmly resonating alcoholic finish. Though not as complex as the very finest vintages, this gorgeous 1985 is a superb choice for current consumption. (97pts. AG, Wine Advocate)
Tasted: Apr. 2007
Score: 97
Drink: 2006-11
Tasting note: Tannic, bitter overtones tend to overshadow the modest level of flavor, which focuses on anise, making this a difficult wine to appreciate. Seems too rough ever to be balanced. Try in 1995. 1,133 cases made. (77pts. Wine Spectator)
